Sound Files
We use two file formats for sound files, wav and rm. Internet Explorer has the ability to play wav files, and this is actually very annoying. It means IE will open a new window for every sound file. You can turn this off by directing Windows to use an external program to play wav files, such as Windows Media Player, by right clicking on a wav file in Windows Explorer, and selecting Open With -> Choose Program. Make sure you then select "Always use this program to open these files".
You can use Windows Media Player to play wav files; it's free, or any other tool able to play those files. You will need the RealOne player to play the rm files.
Zip Files
Throughout the site are links to zip files which usually contain all sound files available on that page. You can use WinZip to extract the sound files from those zip files.
Space Between Letters in IE
There are sometimes extra spaces between some Tibetan letters in Internet Explorer. This happens mostly in the Sentence section and in the Text section. When this occurs you need to refresh the page; that will remove the spaces. Do not close the page and open it again, as that will result in the same spaces. For pages where there is no browser menu, you can right click with the mouse and select Refresh.
Better solution for this problem is to switch to the Firefox browser. Firefox does not add unwanted spaces, and generally works much better than IE.
